Here are Tips to Find Your Favorites At Walt Disney
World Resort
LAKE
BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- A 2-year-old girl peers through the crowd waiting for
the 3 o'clock parade at the Magic Kingdom. "Pooh!" she squeals,
reaching out as her favorite honey-loving Disney character approaches her
with open arms.
The young and young at heart adore Disney characters, from Mickey Mouse
to Mulan. Hundreds of guests carry cameras and autograph books in
anticipation of meeting their favorite characters at Walt Disney World
Resort.
And it has never been easier. The Magic Kingdom, for instance, has
Mickey's Toontown Fair, a playful "land" dedicated to putting
kids and characters together.
While you never know when a Disney character might pop up, here are a
few tips to improve your chances of seeing your favorites.
See Mickey Mouse and Pals at the Magic Kingdom
If you want to fulfill your life-long dream of meeting Mickey Mouse,
Mickey's Toontown Fair is the place to be. In a cool, air-conditioned
setting, guests have a chance to visit his house and meet the Mouse,
himself. Minnie, Goofy and Donald and other pals of Mickey Mouse also are
present at Mickey's Toontown Fair.
Fantasyland is another popular area where Disney characters make
special appearances, especially at "Fantasy Character Festival."
Up to five Disney characters, including Pinocchio, are available for hugs,
kisses and autographs. Guests in Fantasyland also can meet Ariel from
"The Little Mermaid" after taking a leap through a magical
waterfall at "Ariel's Grotto," a new meet-and-greet area.
At Epcot, Characters Find Their Homelands
Epcot is another hot spot to meet Disney characters. Guests of Epcot
can start their morning by greeting Disney characters as they pass by on a
double-decker bus through World Showcase Plaza. Most Disney characters
hang out in World Showcase between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Characters from Disney's animated film can be seen in the country from
which the story line originated, such as Aladdin in Morocco; Quasimodo
from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," in France; and Snow White in
Germany. Mickey and Minnie Mouse, dressed in patriotic attire, make
appearances at the American Adventure pavilion.
In the evenings, Mickey Mouse and his pals wander near Innoventions in
Future World, just waiting to meet guests.
Disney's Hollywood Studios Home of More Disney Characters
Disney characters never miss the chance to be "in the movies"
at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The studios is often the first place characters
from the latest Disney animated film will appear -- in stage shows,
attractions or parades.
Animation Courtyard, home to "Voyage of The Little Mermaid,"
is a prime meeting place for Disney characters, including Belle and the
Beast from "Beauty and the Beast," and Mickey Mouse.
A Special Character Land at Disney's Animal
Kingdom
At Camp Minnie-Mickey, character-loving guests are in heaven. In a
shady grove of brooks, nooks and cedar trees reminiscent of an Adirondack
summer camp, Disney characters are on hand to greet guests, sign
autographs and pose for photos.
Guests will find Mickey Mouse and his good friend, Minnie, soaking up
the campground fun, along with Winnie the Pooh and his Hundred Acre Wood
pals, and King Louie, Rafiki and other popular characters from the Disney
classic films "The Jungle Book" and "The Lion King."
Oh, and not to forget Chip 'n' Dale moseying along the woodland trails.
Camp Minnie-Mickey is home to two theater shows: "Festival of the
Lion King" based on the classic Disney film, and "Colors of the
Wind, Friends from the Animal Forest," with Pocahontas and her
favorite live woodland animals telling the story of their forest world.
