Disney's Animal Kingdom Dining & Shopping
Disney chefs have plenty of menu surprises in store for the four animal-themed restaurants at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, all of them featuring gazelle-paced service, interesting recipes, a generous helping of innovative cooking methods and a colorful atmosphere in keeping with the exotic theme of each area.

A shopping safari through Disney’s Animal Kingdom is an adventure in itself. Discover the carved animal-themed backscratchers and soapstone and wood carvings. Don’t miss Stryracosaurus and other dinosaur replicas straight from the DINOSAUR thrill ride, or a tropical new line of kid’s clothing.

Dining

Table Service

  • Rainforest Cafe (Main Entrance) - A Wild Place to Shop and Eat.  Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Re-creating the sights and sounds of a rainforest through a combination of live and animated wildlife and special effects. The restaurant, featuring an assortment of casual dining menu items including pastas, salads, sandwiches and desserts, can be reached from both outside and inside the park.   Dining reservations available up to 120 days in advance.
  • Tusker House (Africa) - (Lunch Menu) - Reopened in November 2007 as a buffet restaurant that includes a character breakfast, Donald's Safari Breakfast.  Hours for breakfast are 8-10:30am.  Lunch & Dinner are served from 11:30am until park closing. Dining reservations available up to 120 days in advance.
  • Yak & Yeti (Asia) - (Menu) - Opened in November 2007 and operated by Landry's Restaurants, Yak & Yeti is inspired by the western Himalayan foothills in India and Nepal, this Asian-fusion establishment offers table-service dining and full-bar service seating 250.  Dining reservations can be made starting December 3, 2007 for seating after January 4, 2008.

Counter Service

  • Restaurantosaurus (DinoLand U.S.A.) - a home-away-from-home for fun-loving paleontology students of DinoLand U.S.A. Dinosaur memorabilia and class notes line the walls.  Presented by McDonald’s, the restaurant serves such favorites as Chicken McNuggets, Happy Meals, cookies, and, of course, famous McDonald’s french fries. Disney chefs offer up a tempting sandwich menu that includes hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches and cheeseburgers with a flavorful twist -- crock cheese instead of slices -- as well as fresh tossed salads.
  • Flame Tree Barbecue (Discovery Island) -  Features wood-roasted meats with a choice of two original barbecue sauce flavors -- a tomato-based sauce and a mustard-flavored creation -- plus a special dry marinade that is rubbed into the meat before cooking. NOTE: Operates seasonally.
  • Pizzafari (Discovery Island) - Chefs have created a special new pizza crust during 18 months of research and taste testing, baked in an open-hearth oven with a variety of unusual toppings. The restaurant itself is an outstanding artistic accomplishment -- walls are covered with animal murals and the ceiling is lined with colorful animal figurines.
  • Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafe (Asia) - (Menu) - A quick-service food and beer garden that servers Asian-inspired foods similar to it's table-service counterpart with a 350-seat courtyard. Operated by Landry's Restaurants.

  • Anandapur Ice Cream (Asia) - Ice cream and floats.
  • Chakranadi Chicken Shop (Asia) - Chicken fried rice and other Asian specialties.
  • Chip 'n' Dale's Cookie Cabin (Camp Minnie-Mickey) - Cookies, ice cream sandwiches and drinks.
  • Dawa Bar (Africa) - Cool off with your favorite cocktails and love, contemporary African music.
  • Dino Bite Snacks (DinoLand U.S.A.) - Hand-dipped ice cream, sundaes, floats and beverages.
  • Harambe Fruit Market (Africa) - Fresh fruit and juices.
  • Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery (Africa) - themed as an East African bazaar with Arabic archways, ceilings draped in exotic fabrics and daylight streaming through the skylight. Warm cinnamon rolls are among featured specialties.
  • Mr. Kamal's Burger Grill (Asia) - Cheeseburgers and beverages.
  • Sunaulo Toran Fires (Asia) - McDonald's Fries and beverages.
  • Tamu Tamu Refreshments (Africa) - Frozen yogurt, ice cream floats and sundaes.
  • Safari Pretzel (Discovery Island) - Pretzels, churros and soft drinks.

Shopping

  • The Outpost Shop -- Located outside the park entrance, this is the first shop in and the last shop out of the park, offering Disney’s Animal Kingdom T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and other souvenirs.
  • Garden Gate Gifts -- This shop features guest necessities and sundries, located just inside the park. Stroller and wheelchair rentals, plus film, cameras, hats, T-shirts and accessories.
  • Island Mercantile -- The park’s largest merchandise stop located in Discovery Island offers a one-stop shop for everything guests may need. Highlights include a giant wall of Disney characters outfitted in safari garb, Disney’s Animal Kingdom logo merchandise -- T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, souvenirs -- plus candy, toys and more.
  • Wonders of the Wild -- This shopping mecca features upscale men’s and women’s apparel, jewelry and housewares in Discovery Island. You may spot a sleek new line of jungle-themed merchandise featuring stripes and spots with a Disney twist, including mugs, plates, candleholders, pillows, blankets, jewelry, slippers, scarves, pajamas and more. Also offered: a variety of figurines, bookends, clocks and snow globes with carvings replicating the intricate Tree of Life artistry, pewter figurines, authentic African art carvings and the inaugural limited-edition line featuring clocks, umbrellas, scarves, tote bags and collector plates depicting The Tree of Life.
  • Creature Comforts -- Just for kids, this open-air marketplace in Discovery Island is themed to animals with spots, stripes and colorful markings from leopards to ladybugs. Special Animal Kingdom mouse ears don a zebra stripe and DAK logo.
  • Beastly Bazaar -- An open-air shop in the “artists colony” Discovery Island features a brightly colored whimsical exterior. This location showcases surf and island wear, hats, accessories and souvenirs.
  • Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures -- A tacky and wacky roadside “garage” covered floor to ceiling with dinosaur doodads. This DinoLand U.S.A. shop celebrates prehistoric animals and focuses on the dinosaurs from the DINOSAUR thrill ride. Iguanodon, carnotaurus and styracosaurus anyone? A complete line themed to DinoLand U.S.A. featuring keychains, “bones,” figurines, mugs, straws, T-shirts and props from the attraction.
  • Mombasa Marketplace/Ziwani Traders -- African marketplace and trading company featuring artifacts you might find in the village of Harambe -- gourds, authentic mud cloth pillows, soapstone wood carvings, hand-painted gift boxes, plus Kilimanjaro Safari T-shirts, vests, shorts, mugs, hats and jewelry.
  • Out of the Wild -- Conservation-themed apparel, decorative gifts, bath care, books and soft cuddly animal toys located in Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
